Faculty Senate Statement of Support

As members of the Tufts Faculty Senate, we are deeply concerned about the recent governmental attacks on higher education and their implications for Tufts University.

We appreciate our administration’s transparency and the comprehensive efforts they have undertaken, and continue to pursue, to address this crisis. We offer our full support and commend the leadership for its thoughtful and resolute response during this challenging time.

We also affirm Tufts University’s decision to join over 170 institutions, including many of our peers, in signing A Call for Constructive Engagement, a national statement facilitated by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). This public commitment underscores the vital role that colleges and universities play in fostering free inquiry, civil discourse, and inclusive academic communities.
